Tony Anderson, whose goal is to run a marathon in every state to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan, completed his 26th marathon – the Smuttynose Rockfest – yesterday in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.
The Ticker checked in with Anderson post-run and learned he recorded his fastest marathon yet at 3:47:18 (unofficial).
Anderson says the course is "touted as the flatest race in New Hampshire but there were hills all day long. They weren't big but they were constant."
Anderson, who is general manager of Cherryland Electric Cooperative in Traverse City, has raised more than $80,000 for BBBS since the start of his 50 state goal in 2009.
Now it's time for some much deserved rest, albeit brief – Anderson will tackle his 27th run – the Green Mountain Marathon – this Sunday on South Hero Island near Burlington, Vermont.
