Arrested Shoplifter Had Outstanding Warrant For Shoplifting

Nov. 24, 2015

Police who were called to a dollar store to investigate a possible shoplifting found a suspect who was wanted on an arrest warrant for shoplifting.

The 32-year-old suspect aroused suspicion at the Garfield Road store when he went into a restroom with merchandise, prompting a call to police at 7:30pm Friday, Interim Traverse City Police Department Chief Jeff O’Brien says.

Police arrived and found the suspect, who they discovered had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on a shoplifting charge. The suspect was taken outside and searched. Police found several items from the store in his clothing.

O’Brien says the suspect will likely face a new shoplifting case as a result of the incident.
