The Traverse City Police Department and Fire Department have released a video and photos of a person suspected of setting at least one fire and potentially four others. An investigation of a fire on the 300 block of West Front Street on July 6 uncovered a video recording that shows the suspect lighting the fire and fleeing. The suspect is described as being a white male with brown hair, 20 to 30 years of age, 5’5” to 5’8” inches tall.
Since that fire, four additional fires in and around Traverse City have been labeled as “suspicious.” Two of the fires are being investigated by Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office, including one in Copper Ridge and one at the Concrete Service on West Front Street. Two others, being investigated by Traverse City Police and Fire, include a small brush pile next to the banquet center at the Traverse City Golf and Country on August 12 and one on September 6 in the 600 block of Grant Street, where a small brush fire traveled to a storage shed.
