Authorities Searching For Possible Lost Small Watercraft

Sept. 30, 2014

On Sunday Sept. 28 at approx. 3:15pm, authorities began searching East Grand Traverse Bay near Bluff Road and one mile north of Blue Water Road for a small watercraft that witnesses say sunk. The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office, Peninsula Fire Dept, Traverse City Fire Department and the Coast Guard responded.

The search was conducted into the evening hours Sunday and continued Monday with assistance from the Roscommon County Sheriff's Office. The area was searched with side scan sonar but showed no evidence of a submerged watercraft. The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office will review the information provided to date and determine if additional follow up or searching is warranted.
