Power Island in West Grand Traverse Bay is open for deer bow hunting, now through Nov. 14. Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation opened the island for hunting in an effort to control the deer population and to prevent attrition through starvation. There is no permit fee, however hunters are required to have the appropriate deer license and to follow all DNR guidelines and laws related to hunting. Hunters are also strongly encouraged to harvest antlerless deer. Call 922.4818 with any questions or concerns.
