Delinquent Property Tax Assistance

Nov. 13, 2015

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) will close its Step Forward Michigan foreclosure prevention program website to new applicants on December 31. The program provides property tax assistance to homeowners, counties, schools, cities and townships to prevent tax foreclosure. In Grand Traverse County, the program has paid real property taxes in the amount of $72,325 for 14 local families.

Homeowners in need of assistance must register online by December 31 and submit a completed application package by January 31 in order to be considered for assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications already received will continue to be actively reviewed. Questions can be directed to Grand Traverse County Treasurer Heidi Scheppe at 231-922-4735 or treasurer@grandtraverse.org.
