Division Street Bicyclist Hit, Ticketed

June 30, 2015

Police say a cyclist was drunk and failed to yield when he tried to cross Division Street, leading to a crash and a citation. The 57-year-old Traverse City man was cited for disregarding a stop sign by the Traverse City Police. The cyclist was also injured in the accident – with several cuts and several broken ribs -- and was taken to Munson Medical Center. Police were called to Division at 11th Street at 7pm Saturday.

Investigators determined the southbound driver who struck the man, a 37-year-old Kingsley woman, was not at fault.

The bicyclist registered a .23 blood-alcohol level, nearly three times the limit for driving a car, police say.
