Driver Arrested In Suttons Bay

Oct. 20, 2016

A 32-year-old Louisiana man was arrested early Wednesday morning in Suttons Bay after a citizen called in to report dangerous driving.

The called contacted Central Dispatch at 2:41am to report a 1993 Ford pick-up truck traveling north on M-22 near Suttons Bay driving erratically. The truck was reportedly driving without headlights at a high rate of speed. A Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputy located the truck on M-204 and made a traffic stop. The deputy detected the smell of alcohol coming from the driver. As the driver retrieved papers from the vehicle's glovebox, a container of marijuana fell out onto the floor.

The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. He was lodged at the Leelanau County Jail.
