NMC's annual Food for Thought Food Drive is underway and runs throughs Nov. 15. NMC, along with partner Northwest Food Coalition, are challenging the community to collect non-perishable food items to fill the 51 pantries in the five-county area. Last year, 20,000 food items were collected – enough to stock 12 of the neediest food pantries and feed 5,000 people, according to Val Stone, Northwest Food Coalition coordinator. This year, food pantries are reporting 34 percent more visits than 2012.
Food for Thought is a semester-long service learning project for students in a Professional Communications class.
