The Grand Traverse Sheriffs office reports that a serious, four vehicle accident occurred Thursday at 6:30amat Secor and West Silver Lake Roads. A Chevy pickup was stopped at the stop sign on Secor when an eastbound Pontiac minivan crashed into the rear of the stopped truck and continued east into West Silver Lake. The minivan then collided with a northbound Jeep, and the minivan then slid east over the embankment. The Jeep was then struck by a GMC Jimmy headed southbound on West Silver Lake.
There was one occupant in each vehicle; police say all were wearing seat belts and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. The 23 year-old Beulah man driving the minivan, was transported to Munson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Jeep driver, a 33 year-old man from St. Johns, was taken to Munson and is in critical condition with a serious head injury. The other two drivers were not hurt.
