Giovanni's Roadhouse Becomes Maddy's Tavern

Giovanni's Roadhouse Becomes Maddy's Tavern

Giovanni’s Roadhouse in Interlochen has a new name: Maddy’s Tavern. Jeff and Trish Wiltse, who’ve operated the long-standing Italian restaurant for nearly five years, say the name better reflects what’s on the menu. “We were being associated with the old Giovanni's [Giovanni’s Fine Italian Food] so much, but we continued to add categories that weren’t Italian,” Jeff Wiltse told The Ticker. “So, we did the name game and came up with the idea of associating it with Dr. Joseph Maddy, founder of the national music camp in 1928. It just fits the restaurant better.”

The menu is evolving all the time, he says, but the basics remain – steaks, pasta, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. In addition to Maddy’s, the couple also owns and operates The Kitchen, Fire Fly, Bubba’s and Grandview Catering, all operating under TC Food. Maddy’s Tavern is located at 9205 U.S. 31 S., Interlochen. Hours through May are Sun. - Mon. 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Tues.- Sat. 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; 231-276-6244. For specials click here.

We not only love the new Giovannis, but the Kitchen on Barlow down from the Main Library is awesome. Giovanni's food is always excellent. The sandwiches/pizzas are great portions and lots of flavor. We enjoy having a local eatery that has such great quality food.

My wife and I frequent these restaurants, but I have to say that Grandview Catering is excellent as well. Our employees have always been pleased with the quality of food and service offered by Grandview at Holiday time. Hard to beat good food at a reasonable price.

Love the name change, and the reason why it's named..Maddy's Tavern. Our history is what makes our area unique. I think a Grand Opening is in order. Congratulations and continued success on bringing the Traverse City area wonderful choices to dine at.
