Traverse City commissioners voted last night to authorize a gift agreement with Hagerty Insurance for the company to provide a $7,000 challenge grant toward the installation of three water bottle filling stations in the Open Space. A committee of the City Commission, including Mayor Michael Estes and Commissioners Jim Carruthers and Jeanine Easterday, has been working on a fundraising campaign to install the stations in the park at a cost of $7,000 each, or $21,000 total.
Hagerty is offering to fund one station at $7,000 as a challenge for other donors to provide the remaining $14,000 for the project. The City Commission has established “gift tiers” at the following levels: $7,000 for a Full Funder, $3,500 for a Partner, $2,500 for a Supporter and $1,000 for a Champion. Donors at any of these levels will have their names acknowledged on the filling stations and in other promotional materials. Interested donors can contact the City at 231-922-4700.
