Interlochen Student Named Presidential Scholar Candidate

Jan. 31, 2015

A senior at Interlochen Arts Academy has been named one of 60 Presidential Scholar in the Arts candidates as part of the 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Oonagh Davis, a visual arts student, was chosen as a candidate from over 11,000 participants in the annual YoungArts competition conducted by the National YoungArts Foundation.

Inclusion in the national recognition program is considered one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. The Commission on Presidential Scholars - a group of up to 32 leaders appointed by the President - will select the final 141 Scholars, including up to 20 Scholars in the Arts. In May, the U.S. Department of Education will announce this year's Scholars, who will receive an expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. in June to participate in a White House ceremony.
