Just Good Chocolate owners Nichole and Drew Warner have launched a Community Supported Chocolate program, drawing from the popular CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and crowd-funding models.
Here's how it works: for an up-front payment, subscribers will receive the full retail value back over a period of one year in the form of a monthly box of specialty chocolate products from the Leland-based company. Subscribers will have a choice of either a half or full share, $125 and $250 respectively. Boxes will be delivered to a central location (just like the CSA model) and the company will also ship for a fee.
The Warners hope to raise a minimum of $50,000 through the subscription box program to purchase specialty manufacturing equipment that will allow Just Good Chocolate to become the first bean-to-bar manufacturer in northern Michigan.
