Munson Tall Building, Darga Development, ADUs Up For Vote Tonight

Oct. 4, 2016

Traverse City planning commissioners could be in for a long night tonight (Monday) with several major projects on their meeting agenda. In addition to a site plan review for Costco, commissioners will hold public hearings and vote on:

> A special land use permit (SLUP) and site plan review request from Munson Medical Center to build a 110-foot new family birth and children’s center. The commission will also vote on Munson’s request to vacate and reroute part of Sixth Street to accommodate the project. The requests are supported by city planning staff with conditions.
> A request from developer Thom Darga to rezone the former Fifth-Third Bank property in the Warehouse District to allow for a mixed-used development up to 60 feet tall instead of 45 feet tall. The request is not supported by staff.
> A proposal to expand the number of accessory dwelling units allowed to be built in the city each year from 10 to 20. The proposal is not supported by staff.

Planning commissioners will meet at 7pm tonight (instead of the usual 7:30pm) at the Governmental Center.
