Other Driver Cited In M-72 Propane Truck Collision

Jan. 20, 2017

A 54-year-old Cedar man was cited for an M-72 accident Wednesday that caused a Tri-Gas propane tanker truck to flip on its side, closing the highway for two hours.

Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputies determined the Cedar man was driving south on South Cedar Road just after 7:30am Wednesday morning in a Chevrolet pick-up truck when he failed to yield to cross-traffic on M-72. The man pulled south across M-72, striking a westbound Tri-Gas propane tanker truck. The propane truck flipped on its side, sliding a distance west on the road surface. During the collision, a 2009 Honda heading east on M-72 sustained damage from flying debris from the crash.

M-72 was closed for two hours while the propane truck was righted. No one was injured in the accident. The Cedar man was cited for failing to yield to traffic on M-72.
