A 23 year-old Grawn man was arrested for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury, possession of oxycontin, operating while impaired first offense, driving while license suspended first offense, and for two outstanding warrants Wednesday night. The man, driving a black SUV, was swerving on Vance Road in Blair Township, and later led Grand Traverse Sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit. He subsequently failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a fence on South Needle Drive and fled on foot before being tackled by the deputy. The driver continued to resist arrest prior to being handcuffed, and the deputy sustained a broken finger as a result. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .15.
An occupant of the vehicle was also arrested for resisting and obstructing after failing to comply with directions given by deputies. The occupant is a 24 year-old Mesick man.
