State Unemployment Rate Drops

Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 6.7 percent in November, down four-tenths of a point from the October rate, according to data just released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget. Total employment rose by 13,000 over the month while the number of unemployed declined by 16,000.

Other labor force trends and highlights in the report:

November's 6.7 percent jobless rate was the lowest monthly rate in Michigan since April 2006.

November's unemployment rate reduction was the eighth monthly decline of the year.

Total employment in Michigan rose for the fourth consecutive month in November.

Workforce growth in Michigan has been sluggish throughout the year. However, the November count of 43,000 is 0.9 percent above the 2013 total
