TC Film Fest Lineup Released

The lineup for the 2016 Traverse City Film Festival was released Friday. The twelfth annual event, scheduled for July 26-31, will bring over 200 films to northern Michigan. Highlight this year include:

> A festival-wide celebration of the State Theatre's Centennial, with screenings of "some of the greatest films to grace the silver screen in Traverse City over the past 100 years";
> Michiganders Make Movies, featuring movies made by state natives;
> New locations for free movie venue The Buzz (relocated to Central Grade School next to Lars Hockstad Auditorium) and interactive media venue The Woz, hosted this year at Hotel Indigo;
> A worldwide live screening event of Michael Moore's film "Where To Invade Next," where TC audiences will interact real-time with nine other audiences screening the film around the world;
> Free nightly Open Space films including "Frozen," "Wayne's World," "Pitch Perfect," "Jurassic World," "Adam's Rib," and the 2016 People's Choice Winner, "Shrek";
> Special events and screenings honoring this year's presidential election;
> An emphasis on films written and directed by women and people of color;
> The return of offerings including Movies on a Boat, free morning filmmaker panels, Kids Fest, midnight movie interruptions with comedian Doug Benson, The Sidebar: Food on Film, and the TCFF Film School.

The 2016 TCFF movie guide is available online here. Tickets go on sale to Friends of the Film Festival July 10 and the general public on July 16.
