TCAPS Names New Associate Superintendent

June 25, 2016

Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) has named Chris Parker its new associate superintendent.

Parker previously served as the superintendent, K-12 principal and transportation director of Northport Public Schools since July 2014. Prior to that post, he served as principal of Cherry Knoll Elementary School. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University, a Master of Social Work from Western Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University.

“Chris has experience as a strong leader for TCAPS, helping Cherry Knoll Elementary School reach new heights in his five years as principal, and has expanded his understanding of district-level school operations as the superintendent of Northport Public Schools,” said TCAPS Superintendent Paul Soma in a written statement. “He is committed to rapid improvement, and I am confident he will successfully lead our efforts to get great student achievement results using data-driven decision-making.”

Parker replaces Sander Scott, who recently accepted a position as superintendent of Glen Lake Community Schools. Parker begins in his new role on August 1.
