Traverse City Area Public Schools and Northwestern Michigan College are exploring ways to share technology resources in an effort to improve efficiency and better prepare students. The first task will be evaluation of NMC's technology capacities to determine areas that could result in reducing costs for both institutions – possibly by sharing data centers and network infrastructure or higher volume purchasing. They will also look for opportunities to ease the transition for student learners from TCAPS to NMC by using consistent technology.
TCAPS Director of Educational and Administrative Technology Todd Neibauer will lead the evaluation and NMC will be billed for a portion of his time. During this period, NMC will not replace the current NMC Executive Director position being vacated and will reallocate internal resources to ongoing technology needs, according to NMC President Tim Nelson.
