Two Motorcyclists Killed in Crash

Two Williamsburg motorcyclists were killed in an accident Sunday afternoon in the area of M-37 and Center Road in Mayfield Township.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, a 26-year-old Armanda woman was driving south in a hatchback when she crossed the center line at a curve in the road. She struck a northbound motorcycle with two riders on it, both of whom were wearing their helmets. 57-year-old Anthony Erving, who was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene. 50-year-old Deanna Erving, a passenger, was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The female driver of the hatchback, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured in the crash.

While alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident, authorities believe speed may have played a role. The crash remains under investigation.
