By Beth Milligan | Oct. 10, 2018

A 22-year-old Cedar man was arrested following a late-night crash this weekend, according to a Tuesday release from the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Office deputies and Cedar Area Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the single-vehicle accident at 11:25pm Friday on South Cedar Road north of Kasben Road. Upon arrival at the crash scene, authorities located a white 2004 GMC off the west side of the roadway that had crashed into a tree. After the driver was cleared by on-scene medical personnel, an investigation into the accident was conducted.

The driver admitted to consuming multiple alcoholic drinks prior to driving. He stated he was driving home when he lost control of his vehicle, crossing over the southbound lane, leaving the roadway, and striking a tree.

The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and lodged at the Leelanau County Jail.
