Drug-Free Coalition To Hold Grand Traverse Youth Summit

By Beth Milligan | Sept. 24, 2018

The Grand Traverse County Drug Free Coalition will host a youth summit called Too Smart to Start at the Great Wolf Lodge on Monday, October 8 from 9:30am to 2pm.

The event is open to all high school students in ninth through twelfth grades in Grand Traverse County. The youth summit will serve as a kick-off event for a student prevention club, or “STAND Club,” to be launched in each high school. The purpose of STAND (Students Together Against Negative Decisions) clubs is to "promote healthy lifestyles, including being drug-free, and create prevention messages among peers," according to the organization.

The mission of the Grand Traverse County Drug Free Coalition is to create a community-wide culture of awareness and action in the prevention, treatment, and recovery of substance use disorders.
