World's Biggest (Golf) Hitters Coming To Traverse City

April 26, 2018

The first ever Cherry Bomb Long Drive Championship is coming to Traverse City May 4-5, bringing 16 of the world's 20 longest golf driving professionals, including long drive legend Jason Zuback, who has won the world championship five times. The professionals will compete for $25,000 in prize money in the event to be held at Lochenheath. It represents the first time professionals from the World Long Drive Championship tour will compete in Michigan.

The event is being conducted by Tour Prep Golf, a Traverse City-based online, subscription-based golf teaching program.

The public is invited to all the festivities ($10 entry with proceeds going to the Grand Traverse Veterans Coalition) and also may participate in a public team scramble event.

On Friday, May 4, the invtiation-only participants will compete to narrow the field to eight finalists for the Cherry Bomb Long Drive Championship. At this level, the players routinely hit balls more than 400 yards.

Saturday will begin with a four-member team golf scramble; $2,000 entry per team, the winning team winning $20,000. Then the long drive professionals will conduct a trick shot exhibition, followed by lunch and the main event, the final professional competition to crown the winner. A silent auction will also be held to raise money for the Veterans Coalition.
