Announcing The Summer Microbrew Fest Headliner

National folk-rock band The Avett Brothers will headline the 2015 Traverse City Summer Microbrew & Music Festival, organizer Porterhouse Productions announced today. The band behind such hit songs as "I And Love And You" and "Kick Drum Heart" will perform on Saturday, August 22 at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons.

"We're really excited to bring this show to the festival," says Porterhouse Productions owner Sam Porter. "We were looking for something that crossed all demographics and fit the beauty of the setting there at the Commons. The energy of The Avett Brothers is a perfect fit. We're anticipating it will be a sell-out."

Other acts scheduled to perform on Saturday include one-man-band That 1 Guy, New York-based soul-rock act Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds, and local bluegrass duo Billy Strings & Don Julin. Porter notes the festival site will be "reinvented" this year to feature four music stages. Acts set for Friday, August 21 include funk artist Robert Randolph backed by the Motor City Horns (of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band fame), the horn-driven Chicago outfit Lowdown Brass Band (also performing Saturday) and a Michigan reunion show of the members of Funktion and The Mainstays. Traverse City's DJ DomiNate will oversee nine DJs performing both nights in a silent disco tent on the festival grounds.

This year's festival will also feature 200+ craft beers, wines, ciders and meads, a homebrewer's court and a food truck/vendor alley.

Festival tickets go on sale on Tuesday, April 21 at 10am online and are $50 for Friday general admission, $55 for Saturday general admission or $100 for a two-day general admission pass. General admission tickets include five tasting tokens, a commemorative 8oz glass and access to all festival entertainment. Camping and VIP ticket packages are also available.
