Cherry Republic Traverse City Getting New Look

Cherry Republic in downtown Traverse City is making an investment in the 100-year-old building it occupies on Front Street to create a showcase destination. It will include a complete re-do of the facade to combine the three storefront entrances into "one really nice entrance to be much more welcoming," according to Jason Homa, Cherry Republic's vice president of sales and service.

The retail space will also be expanded and redesigned along with realigning the bar area as well as the addition of a cafe/deli offering pizzas, baked goods and ice cream.

"We want to create an experience … so you can shop, and then eat a piece of pie," says Homa. "To give it a destination feel."

The store will also offer carry-out food for the beach. "Stuff that is casual and quick," Homa adds.

Renovations are slated to start January 1 and Homa says the plan is to have the entire retail space refurbished by April 1 with the kitchen and cafe/bar area complete in time for the summer crowds.
