State Education Listening Tour Stop Rescheduled For Jan. 30

A statewide education listening tour stop originally scheduled for January 5 in Traverse City and canceled due to weather has been rescheduled for Monday, January 30.

The Governor’s 21st Century Education Commission will visit Traverse City Central High School on January 30 from 4pm to 5:30pm. According to a Commission release, members "are interested in hearing from Michiganders about how we can work together to improve our state’s education systems. To gather input, the Commission has organized their third statewide listening tour, which will take place in Northern Michigan. Members of the public will have an opportunity to meet Commissioners and engage in deep discussions regarding the issues facing Michigan's students."

The tours are "designed to gather direct input from Michigan’s residents on the current state of Michigan's education, the education systems citizens envision, and how we can work together to close the gap between the two. This input will help shape the Commission’s final report and set of recommendations, which will be released no later than February 28, 2017."

The event is open to all northern Michigan residents. To RSVP for the event, click here.
