Fife Lake Man Arrested After Breaking Down Girlfriend's Door

A 27-year-old Fife Lake man was arrested Monday after he broke down his girlfriend's door.

The man was invited to his 22-year-old girlfriend's house in East Bay Township to drink and socialize. After an argument broke out at the residence, the man was asked to leave. The door was locked behind him. The man then tried to re-enter the home to get his car keys so he could sleep in his car. While his girlfriend was searching for the car keys, the man slammed his shoulder into the door, breaking its glass. He then reached inside and unlocked the door.

The man's girlfriend, 18-year-old roommate and another 18-year-old guest locked themselves in a bedroom and called 911. The man pounded on the bedroom door as they made the call. When Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at 11:10pm, the man was standing in the driveway. He was found to have a .20 BAC.

The man was arrested for malicious destruction of property and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail. No one was injured during the incident.
