Frankfort Man Accused Of Writing False Prescriptions

A 41-year-old Frankfort man is facing arraignment on allegations he wrote false prescriptions to obtain narcotics.

A Kmart pharmacist in Traverse City alerted the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office that a customer was using a suspected false prescription to obtain methadone. Deputies arrived and arrested the man, then obtained a search warrant to search his vehicle. After locating a blank prescription form and other suspicious items, deputies alerted the Traverse Narcotics Team, who executed a search warrant on the man's home in Frankfort. TNT detectives located further evidence at the residence that "substantiated the allegations the suspect was passing off falsified prescriptions for the purpose of obtaining opiate-based narcotics," according to a department statement.

The suspect is now awaiting arraignment in Grand Traverse County Jail. Both the Benzie County Sheriff's Office and Frankfort Police Department assisted in the investigation.
