High Marks For NMC's Nelson

The Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) Board of Trustees Monday night gave President Tim Nelson an overall evaluation of 3.66 out of 4, considered an "outstanding" grade.

Nelson was graded by the seven board members on the "core competency" areas of communication, teamwork, productivity, dependability, quality, problem solving, ethical behavior, and shared governance; and the "key responsibilities" of maintain community relations, maintain effective strategic planning processes, ensure the fiscal health of the college, develop employee base to meet the needs of the college, ensure the physical assets of the college will meet the needs of the college, build and maintain effective board-president relations, and develop and maintain excellence in educational offerings. 

His highest single rating was for dependability at 3.82 ; his lowest was for shared governance at 3.28.
