Kids' Free Fishing Day At NMC's Great Lakes Campus Today

More than 500 young anglers are expected to attend the eleventh annual Kids’ Free Fishing Day today (Saturday) at Northwestern Michigan College's Great Lakes Campus.

Children accompanied by an adult are invited to join in the free fishing fun from 9am to 1pm. Under the supervision of the Department of Natural Resources, 750 rainbow trout 10 inches or longer will be stocked for the event. Fishing rods, reels and bait will be provided. Children may also bring their own fishing gear. Volunteers will be on hand to register anglers, help with fishing instructions and clean the fish.

The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will host a free fish painting activity for kids waiting to fish. There will also be a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration. Free pizza, courtesy of Little Caesar's and Orchard Creek Senior Living and Healthcare, will be provided. Parking is available at NMC’s Great Lakes Campus located just east of the Holiday Inn on East Front Street.
