New Mentoring Program Announced

The Traverse City Young Professionals (TCYPs), a program of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, will partner with the Northwest Michigan chapter of Junior Achievement USA to bring a professional student mentoring series to the area this fall.

The mentoring series consists of nine monthly sessions (September through May). Dubbed the TCYP L.I.F.E. (Lessons In Future Endeavors) Mentoring Program, it will include of a variety of hands-on activities and skill-building opportunities essential to professional growth from an individual’s high school years through their career. They include time management, career paths, job interviewing, and public speaking. The series will conclude with a business networking reception where students will be able to put their newly learned and improved skills to the test.

The only requirement for mentees is that they be high school-aged students (9th-12th grade). Students can learn more here. Mentee registration is ongoing and there is no cost to attend.

Mentors must be affiliated with the Traverse City Young Professionals and must register here. They will be required to complete a volunteer background check, as well as sign the Junior Achievement Volunteer Standards of Conduct form.
