Second Traverse City Contestant Advances On The Voice

A second musician with Traverse City connections has advanced on NBC's reality singing competition "The Voice."

Singer James McNeiece landed a spot on celebrity coach Adam Levine's team with his soulful rendition of Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" in a blind audition episode that aired Monday. "This is a guy you're going to see go very far on this show, I'll tell you right now," Levine told the other judges.

McNeiece's family has hosted viewing parties of the show at Traverse City restaurant Harringtons By the Bay, where McNeiece was a former employee. McNeiece joins Traverse City singer-songwriter Joshua Davis in advancing to the show's next stage, the "battle rounds," which air beginning March 16. The winner of "The Voice" will get $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group. The show airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
