TC Track Club Announces Nearly $60K In Grants

The Traverse City Track Club board of directors has announced the recipients of its spring grant cycle, with eight grants totaling $59,660. The largest is a $17,500 grant to Preserve Hickory for phase 1 improvements to Hickory Hills, including expansion of the recreational trail system.

Other grants awarded are:

The Children’s House – $1,160 to purchase supplies for cross-country and track programs

El Grupo Norte Youth Cycling – $1,000 to support Traverse City Walks to School Day

Elk Rapids Schools – $5,000, to purchase uniforms and equipment for the 6th grade track & field team

National Cherry Festival – $5,000 to support the 2016 Cherry Mile race, an historic event during the festival

Peter Dougherty Society Trail – $7,500 to construct a barrier-free trail at the historic Dougherty Mission Home site.

TART Trails – $15,000 to replace the bridge that goes over Orchard Creek on the Leelanau Trail

Village of Lake Ann – $7,500 to construct a safe walking path in Burnett Park

The Traverse City Track Club offers both scholarship and grant opportunities through the Traverse City Track Club Endowment at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. Grants are awarded twice a year, and scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. The next opportunity to apply for grants is October 1, 2016 with applications available online beginning in mid-August.
