Airport To Dedicate Street For Chuck Judson

The Northwestern Regional Airport Commission will dedicate a new street at Cherry Capital Airport today (Tuesday) at 2:30pm in honor of former prominent Traverse City attorney and community leader Charles B. "Chuck" Judson.

Judson Street will be located on the airport's south-side cul-de-sac, with the dedication site located just past the south (main) entrance near Costco. The street is named in honor of Judson, who served as longtime legal counsel to the Northwestern Regional Airport Commission. "Under Chuck’s legal counsel and stewardship, the NRAC was able to secure a long lasting lease program for the Costco store located adjacent to the airport terminal," according to an airport press release. "Additionally, with Chuck’s longtime legal advising, the extension of the airport runway was executed in record time, making for little interference to air service during the project."

Airport Director Kevin Klein says Judson, who worked for over 35 years as an attorney in Traverse City and served on numerous community boards, was a "longtime pillar to the success of the NRAC and Cherry Capital Airport with his extensive knowledge of aviation and airport operations law. His knowledge of city, county, and state law was always a trusted asset when the NRAC and TVC team embarked on any project."

A statement from Judson's family said the attorney "loved Traverse City and was always excited to lend his talents to projects that could help engage residents and visitors to enjoy the place he felt lucky to call home. He felt strongly about the importance of the Cherry Capital Airport and its role in the regional community."
