Avelo Airlines Coming to TVC with Direct Service to New Haven

A new airline is coming to Cherry Capital Airport. TVC officials announced Wednesday that Avelo Airlines will become the sixth airline to operate at the airport, providing nonstop service between Traverse City and Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Connecticut starting June 15.

Avelo will operate the new route on Saturdays. The flight will use a Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com, with one-way introductory rates offered for a limited time starting at $62.

"Getting to Southern Connecticut – the gateway to New England and New York – is now easier than ever," said Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. "This exclusive nonstop service will also make exploring Traverse City’s Sleeping Bear Dunes and famous lakeshores, vineyards, and other diverse attractions a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut visitors.”

Cherry Capital Airport CEO Kevin Klein said TVC is "thrilled with the commitment made by Avelo to introduce this new nonstop route to and from New Haven, Connecticut. This new route will make the 20th nonstop for this upcoming season and become the sixth airline to serve TVC this summer.”

Tweed-New Haven Airport is located on Connecticut's coast and is a gateway to all 15 towns that make up Greater New Haven. HVN’s adjacency to multiple major highways and commuter railways "makes visiting the New England and New York regions easier than ever," according to TVC. "Best known as the home of Yale University, New Haven is the second largest city in Connecticut and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The coastal city has experienced – and continues to enjoy – a renaissance."

Since launching in 2021, Avelo has flown 4.2 million customers on 33,000 flights. The airline today serves 50 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico.
