County Commissioners To Discuss Admin Applicants

Grand Traverse County commissioners agreed Wednesday to set a special meeting for April 11 and go into closed session to review applications for the position of county administrator.

The county has received 92 applications for the position, according to Chair Carol Crawford, which recruiting firm GovHR USA ranked based on applicant qualifications. The firm rated 15 candidates as five-star applicants (five being the highest ranking), with 14 candidates rated as four-star applicants and another 23 earning three stars for meeting the minimum qualification requirements for the job.

Ahead of their meeting – which will be closed-door due to candidates requesting confidentiality – commissioners plan to review resumes for all 52 of the three, four and five-star applicants. They plan to ask GovHR USA to provide the resumes without any rankings attached so commissioners can form their own opinions of candidates’ suitability. Following their discussion, commissioners plan to come out of closed session and vote on extending interview invitations to a winnowed-down pool of top candidates.
