Deputy Injured in Kingsley Rollover Crash

A Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office deputy was taken to Munson Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries following a rollover crash in Kingsley Monday.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post responded to Garfield Road near Family Lane in Paradise Township for a traffic crash involving a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office. A preliminary investigation indicated the deputy was traveling north on Garfield Road while responding to a personal injury crash. A driver in front of the deputy started slowing down. As the deputy went to pass the vehicle, the other driver made a left-hand turn and struck the patrol vehicle in its rear quarter panel. The patrol vehicle left the road, entered a ditch, and overturned.

"This crash is still under investigation, and the name of the deputy is not being released at this time," according to a MSP release. "The 27-year-old driver of the other vehicle was uninjured."

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Paradise Township Fire and Rescue.
