Disability Network Offers COVID-19 Vaccines For Homebound Individuals

Individuals with disabilities or medical conditions preventing them from going out to get a COVID-19 vaccine can now receive vaccines or boosters in their homes.

The Disability Network Northern Michigan is helping individuals in covered counties who are considered homebound - those with a disability that discourages or prevents them from leaving their home - to access COVID-19 vaccines. Covered counties include Alpena, Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Wexford.

Disability Network Northern Michigan is partnering with a home service provider that administers the vaccine in the field for people with disabilities. All three types of COVID-19 vaccines that are authorized and approved for use are available. Scheduling will begin on January 17, with in-home visits beginning the week of January 24. These services are provided at no cost to the recipients.

Individuals interested in participating can call the Disability Network Northern Michigan at 231-922-0903 or register online at disabilitynetwork.org. Individuals located in a county not covered above can call the Disability Information and Access Line at 888-677-1199 for vaccination location assistance.
