Food For Thought Launches Trademark Infringement Campaign
Timothy Young, founder and CEO of Food For Thought – an Honor-based specialty food business built on an organic and sustainable philosophy – is asking supporters to help him fight what he says is "blatant" trademark infringement by the Huffington Post and Chipotle restaurants. Earlier this week, the Huffington Post unveiled a new blog called Food For Thought, which will focus on attitudes toward food, asking where our food comes from and how it's produced.
While Young says he respects both the Huffington Post and Chipotle, they have ignored the fact that he has an 18-year-old trademarked company name, along with a website, blog, Facebook page, YouTube page and more. So he is asking supporters to email Arianna Huffington arianna@huffingtonpost.com directly and post on his Food For Thought's blog.
Young did also send a comment to the HuffPost's new blog yesterday morning, but by late afternoon it still had not been published. This is part of what he wrote:
"While I’m just a little organic jam maker in the woods of northern Michigan, I do have a global reach through my international Fair Trade and food justice work. Regardless of my size, it is hard to imagine that you were not made aware of my presence. Is this a case of Goliath’s corporate attorneys saying, “This guy is too small to mount a challenge; if he does, we’ll squash him?” Do you really want to WalMart this small organic farmer?"
