Good Bowl, Cooks’ House Temporarily Close After Staff Test Positive For COVID-19

Two downtown Traverse City restaurants have announced temporary closures after staff members tested positive for coronavirus.

The Cooks’ House has not announced a reopening date but said in a Facebook post Saturday that the restaurant will be temporarily closed until all employees can be tested and the business receives the green light from the Grand Traverse County Health Department to reopen. The Health Department listed the restaurant as a possible exposure site for the following dates: Wednesday, October 7 from 4-11pm; Thursday, October 8 from 4-11pm, and Friday, October 9 from 4-11pm.

The Good Bowl announced Sunday morning that an employee had tested postive for COVID-19. The last shift that the staff member worked was Wednesday, October 14 from 4-8pm. The restaurant said that although employees follow strict masking and surface sanitation guidelines, the business would temporarily close for a deep clean, with plans to reopen Wednesday (October 21). A ticketed Passport Vietnam event planned for Tuesday will be rescheduled.

A third downtown establishment was also announced as an exposure site in recent days. On Thursday, the Health Department listed a possible exposure at Taproot Cider House on Saturday, October 10 from 8-9pm. Taproot closed its doors for the day Thursday to perform a deep clean on the business.
