Ironman Registration To Open September 25

General registration for the inaugural edition of the Ironman 70.3 competition in Traverse City will open September 25.

The world-famous triathlon race will host its first event in Traverse City on August 25, 2019. Traverse City will become only the second city in Michigan to host an Ironman 70.3 event after Benton Harbor. While details surrounding the exact course layout are still being finalized, early plans have the 1.2-mile swim portion of the event taking place in West Grand Traverse Bay, the 56-mile bike course winding through Leelanau County, and the 13.1-mile run course going up Old Mission Peninsula. The race will finish in downtown Traverse City.

The Ironman 70.3 Traverse City will offer 30 age-group qualifying slots for the 2020 Ironman 70.3 World Championship scheduled to be held in Oceania, along with a professional prize purse and two professional qualifying slots. Traverse City Tourism, which is a partner in the event, and Ironman announced Tuesday that general registration for the race will open on September 25 online here.

Registration costs listed for the event range from $230-$300 depending on competitor tier, while a relay team entry is available for $350-$400 depending on tier. Registration includes a participant tech shirt, finisher medal, sling bag, finisher hat, luggage tag, timed race results, age group awards, on-course nutrition, post-race food, post-race massage, and finisher certificate. Pricing is inventory-based according to slot quantities and will automatically increase when capacity has been filled, according to Ironman.
