King's Court Targeting Expansion
Sun Communities, the parent company of King’s Court manufactured home park on LaFranier Road, is targeting a 37-acre expansion of the property.
Garfield Township planning commissioners will hold a public hearing on April 13 on the company’s request to rezone two large parcels of land immediately south of the park from agricultural to mobile home residential. The rezoning will allow for King’s Court to significantly expand the park, with the new section surrounded by King’s Court to the north and low-density single-family housing to the west, south and east, including the Maple Ridge apartment complex now under construction.
According to Bob Schmude of Atwell LLC, which represents Sun Communities, conceptual expansion plans call for 158 new mobile home sites to be constructed. Sites will range from 6,000-7,000 square feet – large enough to accommodate “the biggest double-wide unit on the market,” according to Schmude. The expansion will also include new park and recreational spaces.
Garfield Township planning commissioners will review the project April 13 at 7pm at Garfield Township Hall.
