Kingsley Woman Arrested for Possessing Taser, Meth

A 27-year-old Kingsley woman with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested Monday after being found with methamphetamine and an illegal Taser.

A trooper from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post stopped a vehicle on Lafranier Road near David Place in Garfield Township at 7:33 a.m. Monday. During the traffic stop, a passenger in the front seat gave the trooper a false name and left the scene on foot. Soon after she left, she was identified as a 27-year-old woman from Kingsley with multiple warrants for her arrest.

The woman was found walking a short distance away on David Place. She was taken into custody for her warrants. The woman was carrying a large backpack at the time of her arrest. She informed the trooper she had a Taser in her backpack. During a search of her backpack, the trooper found the Taser - which the woman was carrying illegally - and approximately five grams of methamphetamine. Other paraphernalia including pipes and a digital scale were also found. The woman - who has not yet been publicly identified pending arraignment - was lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
