Man Arraigned On Felony Charges

A 21-year-old Lansing man was arraigned on two felony charges related to using computers to accost a child for immoral purposes.

Tyler Joseph Kandler of Lansing was arraigned in 86th District Court on charges including using computers to commit a crime and accosting children for immoral purposes. Kandler was using his cell phone to communicate with a 14-year-old Leelanau County girl in an attempt to solicit a sexual relationship, according to the charges.

A Leelanau County Sheriff's Office investigation into the case began in late September when a Bingham Township mother notified the Sheriff's Office of inappropriate communications between her daughter and the suspect. The communications were transmitted through the app Snapchat. Kandler is currently free on a $15,000, 10 percent bond.
