Man Arrested for Assaulting Girlfriend in East Bay Township Hotel

Paul Biolzi, a 53-year-old man from Hollywood, Florida, is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in an East Bay Township hotel Monday.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers were dispatched to the unnamed hotel at 1:08am Monday in response to a woman reporting an assault. Biolzi allegedly struck the woman with a firearm, threatened her with a firearm, and choked her. He fled prior to troopers arriving. Soon after, Biolzi was spotted walking near the hotel. Troopers and deputies took him into custody.

After he was in custody, an MSP canine team located two firearms that Biolzi attempted to hide that were allegedly used in the assault. He was lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail. On Wednesday, Biolzi was arraigned in 86th District Court on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and felony firearms. His bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety. He is next due in court on November 17.
