Multiple Meth Arrests Over Weekend in GT County

Four individuals were arrested on meth-related charges in two separate incidents over the weekend in Grand Traverse County.

On Friday at 9:30pm, Michigan State Police troopers stopped a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Kingsley man for an equipment violation. The driver had a suspended license. The front seat passenger, a 32-year-old Kingsley woman, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The driver said the woman was holding the drugs for him. Drug paraphernalia and marijuana were found throughout the vehicle and in the woman’s belongings. There were three children in the back seat near the drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The driver and passenger were placed under arrest and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment. The children were turned over to a family member. The investigation continued at the Grand Traverse County Jail, where troopers obtained additional information that led them to the man and woman’s camper on Voice Road where they were living with their children. Troopers went to the camper and seized additional drugs and evidence. A bag of methamphetamine weighing approximately four grams was seized from the camper, which was "found to be in an extremely unsanitary condition," according to the Michigan State Police.

On Monday at approximately 2:50am, Michigan State Police troopers stopped a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Bellaire woman for an equipment violation on LaFranier Road near South Airport Road in Garfield Township. Troopers saw blood on the driver’s sleeve that was consistent with syringe use. The troopers also saw what appeared to be a bag of drugs and drug paraphernalia in an open backpack inside the vehicle. The driver and passenger were arrested and were found to be hiding syringes, drug paraphernalia, and drugs including methamphetamine and heroin. Both women were lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment.
