New Store Set to Open Downtown

Glitz & Spurs Boutique will be galloping into downtown Traverse City this spring, according to owner Katie Grossnickle.

Opening in the former Leaping Lizard space at 207 E. Front St. between Sweet Pea and Ella’s, the store will feature women’s causal wear “with a little bit of western flare,” including cowgirl boots, sparkly belts, rhinestones, jewelry, accessories, purses and a “small line of guy’s stuff.”

Grossnickle, 26, who shows horses and has a degree in retail management, has been operating a 28-foot, mobile boutique at horse shows in several states. After three years, she decided to look for a permanent storefront in downtown TC. “This space became available again, so I decided to go for it!” she says.

With the 1,600 square-foot store now renovated from top to bottom, Grossnickle is looking to hire 2-3 employees and is aiming for a mid-May opening.

Her parents, Steven and Lori Grossnickle, own Forty-Five North Vineyard & Winery in Lake Leelanau.
