NMC Adds Degree Programs In Culinary Sales And Surveying

Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) is bringing two new degree programs to Traverse City.

The college announced on Tuesday that it would be adding degrees in culinary sales and surveying. Both degree programs were unanimously approved by the NMC Board of Trustees on Monday and will be available starting with the fall 2019 semester.

Both programs are classified as associate’s degrees in applied sciences. The culinary sales degree will combine culinary courses and business courses to create a degree for students seeking jobs in food and beverage sales or marketing departments. The surveying degree would incorporate training in both marine technology and unmanned aerial systems and would target students interested in the field of land surveying.

The culinary sales program will be based around culinary and general business courses that NMC already offers, while the surveying degree will be an offshoot of NMC’s marine technology program. NMC is the only institution in the country – community college or otherwise – that offers a full-fledged bachelor’s degree in marine technology.

Students will be able to register for the new degree programs – and for other NMC fall 2019 courses – beginning March 13, 2019.
